I live in my life in different two worlds.

Brooklyn is home. I can’t imagine living in a place where I can’t walk walk to coffee shops, restaurants, local business, parks and the waterfront, all within a 10 minute radius. Or hop on the subway, stick my nose deep in a book, and travel to another part of the city to explore further.

But the mountains hold my heart. In 2013, my husband, Sean, took me to the Adirondacks for the first time. It was a place he knew well – summers at Boy Scout camp, winters skiing down Whiteface – and was eager to share with me. I fell in love in instantly. The solitude of the trails, challenging climbs and seemingly endless mountain views gave me a sense of calmness that I never imagined.

Since then, every weekend, every vacation, every escape, is spent figuring out new trails to explore and new heights to climb.

I like the mountains because they make me feel smallThey help me sort out what’s important in life.
